Who is Wilty Wonder?
As a first-time blogger, this experience is equal parts exciting and terrifying. Attempting to blog in a manner that is only moderately awkward and uninteresting to read? Yeah, I’m all about that!
The last few years have been a whirlwind, but as with everyone, the pandemic hit particularly hard. The pandemic hit hard and fast as I was in the process of pivoting from the healthcare field to information science, while coping with chronic depression. It left me with very little to hold on to, very little to hope for, and an enormous amount of guilt.
I’m currently on track with my mental health, getting physically healthier and investing in hobbies again. This brings me to Wilty Wonder. I dove head first into the world of green — indoor and outdoor gardening, microgreens and hydroponics. I’ve only been at it for a short while, but the community is amazingly positive and supportive, and watching my plants grow is rewarding. I have found that leaning into this plant obsession gives my mind a break from the real world, away from the pressures of working full time and working on my Master’s degree.
But… Why?
This blog is equally for you as it is for me. After isolating myself and withdrawing for so long, I’m excited to share my joy and frustrations as I explore plant parenthood, and hopefully have a few laughs along the way. I hope to share my journey, tips and tricks, and some life stories.
So… Another Plant Blog?
You betcha!
I’m hoping this blog doesn’t devolve into a poorly maintained shell of itself, or a bland spam-posting boring blog. I want to share my trials and tribulations with you, and create a community that empowers mental, physical and emotional healing through the wonders of plants (be they real or fake!).
Do you know who I am?!
…not yet! But I want to get to know you. I invite all audiences, plant lovers and plant haters, beginners and professionals, those that want to garden vicariously through blogs or get their hands dirt in their own garden. I invite those looking for tips and tricks and journey timelines.
Do I have to do anything?
Nope!
I value your readership and your views. If you’d like to comment, write to me, engage with the community on here or on my Facebook page, feel free. If there’s content you want me to explore, or if you have advice or feedback on how I can improve my plants (or my content), I’d love to hear from you!
Keep it wilty!
